We celebrate International Women’s Day with the film Identity dilemma

A DOCUMENTARY LOOK AT THE STORIES OF WOMEN WHO FIGHTED ON THE SLOVAK-ITALIAN BORDER FOR THE RECOGNITION OF THEIR IDENTITY AND THE ISSUE OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS DURING THE COLUMBANCE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
The film Question of Identity reveals the stories of five women who lived on the draft of the Slovenian-Italian border and political disagreements, in a period when women’s rights were just being born: Pavla Hočevar, Marica Nadlišek Bartol, Elody Oblath, Giuseppina Martinuzzi, Alice Schalek. Five destinies, tossed by the wind of history, crossed their life plans and forced them to make difficult decisions. Five different women who reflected each other’s thinking and recreated the thoughts and emotions of a time when the balance was being disrupted and the world was changing. The words of their diaries, writings and letters come to life in the creations of five actresses: Ariella Reggio, Lučka Počkaj, Elena Husu, Giustina Testa and Marzia Postogna.

We are preparing a film screening at the Šiška Cinema as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, in cooperation with the March 8 Institute. The film will be shown with Slovenian subtitles, followed by a conversation with the director of the film Sabrina Morena from Trieste, the director of the 8 March Institute, Niko Kovač, and doc. dr. Ireno Selišnik from the Faculty of Arts.
